Registering boat
« on: March 31, 2015, 08:29:19 PM »
Went to register the boat today, and came back empty handed...

When I bought the boat in July of '09 I got a "clear title" and a bill of sale. I never tried to get a new title or register it to me until today. Apparently you have to do it within 30 days of purchase (this I had no clue about, I said oh ill do it when the time comes).

So the tax collector lady says "this boat was titled/registered to someone else in 2013 and repoed from a marina". She said the hull ID was what they go off of (which mine is just simply A990), but could not see if the rest of the description was the same (Year, manufacturer, fl num etc.)

She said they would have to get with Tallahassee and they would have to dig deeper, or to get with the FWC, court order yadayadayada...

Anyways I remember someone on here who had a similar problem I think and the FWC might have handled it for them?
Anyone remember that one???           :confused1:

Dirt.

PM me your particulars. I have FWC under contract for policing our wildlife areas. Let me see what I can do to get this straightened out. Please include the county of residence and where the vessel was last registered.

Man that sucks
I once had a motor vehicle agent in Miami grab the trailer out from under my 170 and give the registration to someone else.  I didn't get my usual registration one year and sure enough, it didn't belong to me anymore, even though it was under my boat.  Got it back that year but it happened the next year too.  Made some serious notes in the DMV file and it didn't happen again.

I hope CB can make this easy for you. :25:
