I've tested the rheostat, but yet to drill a hole in the console for it.  I'm not sure the rheostat I tested is weatherproof, but it was cheap.  I may decide to go with a more expensive waterproof model, but I'm waiting for windshield and grab bars before I finalize the console layout.  I'm guessing the installation will be simple and probably right next to the switch panel.

I finally got numbers and registration on the boat and got it in the water.  With just a few minor adjustments, everything worked and the boat ran great (as expected).  I'm still waiting for a windshield and grab bar, hopefully they'll come this week.

The numbers are white and don't provide quite the contrast I had imagined. OTOH, I did get an FWC inspection when I hauled out at the ramp.  The officer also checked out the 25" redfish I had in the well. I'm kicking myself for not getting a picture.  Apparently everything was OK.

I did a little measuring.  She floats in about 6.5 inches at the stern and the skeg is 7.5 inches below the keel when the motor is jacked up, so it looks like about 14 inches of water is required at idle speed.  On plane maybe 10 inches will do but I'm not so crazy as to try to run in 10 inches around here.  The boat will get out of the hole with the jack plate full up.  I don't know for sure how much depth is required, but I do know that it's less than the minimum 2 feet I can read on my depth finder.  The transducer shoots thru-hull and is epoxied to the inside of the hull at the centerline right at the transom and it works very well at all speeds.  The ability to operate in shallow water is a big plus around my neighborhood.

Mine floats in about 9 inches with the live wells empty. I ran mine on plane in about 10 inches with the bracket up. Where does the cavitation plate sit in relation to the keel with the plate down? When I had my bobs jackplate I always found myself running with it about an inch and a half up in most conditions so I raised it up 2 holes.

The motor is a 20" shaft, and with the jack plate full down the cav plate sits about 2" above the keel.  The prop runs without much slip with the jack plate raised 3", after that it slips worse, but still has enough thrust to get out of the hole easily with the plate full up.

I've been running her pretty often since early February and have caught a lot of fish.  I got a cheap deal ($40) on a clear windshield, but I'd still like to find one in the original green tint.  I've added a bait tank aft and a dive ladder.  I'm still looking for someone to make the right windshield grab bar.  The more I run the boat the more I like how she performs.  I can get shallow to stalk the redfish and last week ran comfortably for 10 miles coming home against a 2' - 3' (trough to crest) chop with a quartering headwind.  Here's a shot from yesterday:

Jack, that is a pretty boat!

We had our windshield made locally at a glass shop which had an acrylic department.

We went with the heavier 3/8ths inch light green. They high polished the edges, was very happy with the results.
