SOLAR POWER BOAT!!!
« on: April 28, 2015, 12:28:05 PM »
It's been a while.....almost forgot my password.

So I added some new goodies. Aside from last years Simrad NSS EVO and B175HW sonar, I just installed 150watts of solar. Yup, 10 amps of free power.

I work for a solar company that makes flexible panels. A few salmon to grease the wheels and I had two new tested panels. I installed them on the top of my FishOnSports Arch Visor. With the two panels a MorningStar charge controller to charge both battery banks.

I had the boat out on a 3 day trip. usually I have to be cautious of my battery use on the second and third day. Now, both batteries were at 14vdc all day dipping to 13 at night.

Have to say, I wish I did this years before. No more plugging into the wall. I can leave my radar on all day. Awesome.

I'll try to get some pics up soon. Just did the install last week before the trip.
