Ok, I need a hand from some of you all. When I eventually get the transom out and back in and the rest of the stringers and floor done, I am going to be building in to "boxes against the stern. The port side will have a built in, oval livewell and the starboard will house 2 batteries and be where the main rigging tubes exit the floor. What I need to know is how much room the outboard will need so I don't build the boxes to wide. I will not be hanging power on the boat until to late to check it.
Basically I need to know 2 things. Oh, the engine will most likely be a V-4 but might end up being a 6 cyl 150hp max. The transom will be 25" for the motor but I want to build up the outside edges of the transom to the height of the gunnels (about 3 or 4 inches). How wide should the center section (the 25" section) be to accomodate the engine when both up and down? How wide between the boxes inside the boat?
Thanks for the help, hope this makes sense.
