1987 250 Osprey
« on: November 24, 2014, 05:09:00 PM »
Does anyone know the spec's on this one?  NADA lists the model in 1987 only, with a 2600# dry weight and 8' beam, but no other detail.  I have seen pics of one in the pictures forum ("King of the C's") and I may have a lead on one close to home.  Based on pictures and general concept, it seems like an updated version of the 240 center console, but I would greatly appreciate any solid info.

Thanks in advance,
Blake

Apparently not.

In those days at Aquasport, a number of "save the ship" models appeared but documentation has been lost. The Osprey group had the 250, 270 and 281 (that we know of). These were open bow models but had a "Coho" model that had a cuddy up front.

iboats.com list it as: 24.67 (24'-8") with a beam of 96" (8') and a dry weight of 2765#. Other than the photos we have (you've seen those) we don't have much more. I believe one member, a long time ago had a 250 but I'm not sure. He and his son are now teaming up on a 281 so he may be able to shed a little more light but other than that.........

Sorry.

My last guess is this:

http://www.classicaquasport.com/gallery ... -9&cat=574

A refitted CCP hull with an Osprey cap. Specs we have fit both exactly and it was common in those times to use the CCP hull with the XF cap. Smaller Ospreys are a 12 degree dead rise. Fitting a "stretched" cap would allow both the forward platform, storage and the benefit of the 19 degree DR. A win win for the factory (in their minds anyway).

I'd bet the ranch that's exactly what they did.

Should be a great riding hull.

Good luck.
