Clear vinyl side curtains and enclosure restoration
« on: November 27, 2014, 11:46:08 AM »
My canvas and clear plastic is in pretty good shape on my 1998 245. I think it's probably original. The clear panels are also in good shape but where they rub on the support framework it gets pretty chaffed up and scratched.
What do you other owners do to remove scratches and polish them up?
I'm also looking for some spacers that clip on the framework to keep the plastic from being sun baked onto the aluminum, My other boat had 1" frames and the canvas guy put them on when he did everything over but our Aquasports have 7/8" tubing and I can't find spacers.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

You can't remove the scratches but you can make them look better. Klear -to-Sea is a good product for your clear vinyl. Imar stratoglass cleaner and polish is another one. Starbrite has a line of plastic polish and protectants that I'm sure work good.  I'll check with my supplier for the 7/8" spacers next week.

I use Plexus plastic cleaner protectant & polish. Comes in a spray can. Sold thru CV Products on line. I've used this stuff for years starting using it to keep my lexan windshield and windows clean on my drag cars. Won't remove deep scratches but will take some scuffs off..

Lemon pledge does work good. In fact thats what I use on aircraft windows. However when the clear vinyl is new it has some uv inhibitors on it. You want something that has some uv protection in it.

Do any of you use Novus products?
