1995 Yamaha Saltwater Series 200 HP with 1200 Hours
« on: October 03, 2014, 09:17:39 AM »
Hey All,
Just wanted to get some opinions on these motors with 1200 hours.  There is a pair that I am looking at.  These have carbs and the compression is good.  Both start almost instantly, when cold, without chocking, and with the throttle sitting smack dab in the neutral position.  Both idle smoothly and run very well pushing a 28 foot boat.  Lots of hours for a two stroke.  What do you think?  Living on borrowed time or not to worry?  Thanks in advance for any opinions.

I had the 225 SWS same year, best motor I ever had, spoke with the local Yamaha Dealer Kenny Mann when I was considering swapping that motor onto the Then New Aquasport that had a blown Johnson on it, he told me that was one of the best motors Yamaha ever made, the V-76 motors are bullet proof, easy 3000 HR motor.  If everything checks out like you said I wouldn't hestitate if the price is right.  The only downside is if those have the 6 Carbs on them, that is very expensive for rebuild and syncronizing, but I never had a problem with them.
