Manual Release Screw for T&T: Where to order?
« on: September 11, 2014, 11:36:38 AM »
Anyone know the part # or where I can order a Manual Release Screw for the Tilt and Trim on a 97' Johnson 200? I've looked around and tried ordering what looked correct but it was the wrong screw. Mine is fine for the moment but will need to be replaced soon. Thanks for any help.

Surely there is an alternative to paying that ridiculous price for a Screw. I'll have to do some research. While it is a very important part, I cannot stand being ripped off to that extent. I'll try to find a used one somewhere...

Thats not exactly a screw... It is a machined spool valve with very specific tolerances. Why do you need to replace it, it's only used in an emergency anyway? It will be interesting to see if you can find a used one without having to buy the whole trim system. Additionally, on some systems, if you take that spool valve completely out you will have springs and checkballs fall out when you do. This is why you are only too back the valve out a couple of turns to bleed the system pressure.

Thanks Fitz. I understand it's importance and how it works. Mine is not fully stripped but will eventually get there so I'd like to replace it while it's on my mind.

It will only get there if you have to use it. Eliminate the reason why its relevant.

You should be able to pick up a used one at a local or net outboard salvage yard.

Interested in why the original is giving issues.

Fitz gives sincere direction.

Check with your mom and pop repair places, I think your motor has the fastttrac tnt unit so they are plentiful

Thanks GoneFission! Those are better priced, I'll check to see if that part # is indeed interchangeable. Fitz, I am in the process of replacing the Trim Motor that is the relevance. I noticed that it was almost stripped thanks to the PO. While it is removable, it is difficult to get off. In the future, if it is needed again, it would be nice to know that it will come off easy. Any how, I've still got a running issue so the Trim may be put on the back burner. Thanks again for all of y'all s responses.
