Nida Core type material available thru Carbon Core
« on: May 28, 2014, 12:38:39 PM »
Great news! As many of you may know, 3M purchased Nida Core and shut the brand down. Well its back! Carbon Core has taken over offering the same or similar products. I was curious as the logo was very similar so I called and had a nice conversation with Jack Lugus. He worked for Nida Core for 15 years and is one of the products developers. Super nice guy who is willing to help in any way he can. They have many products of different types with some similar to Coosa board and others.
What really caught my attention is the "introductory" pricing. Its in effect for the next 30 days but the pricing is a game changer for me. 1/4 honeycomb core sheets for $39! 1/2 inch for $51.52! 3/4 for $72! Basically about $1.10 to $2.25 a square foot! That is stupid cheap! I was going to use plywood to build my console enclosure but now im going to switch gears and use their nida core -like honeycomb sheets for it as its basically cheaper than local marine ply.

Check them out at http://www.carbon-core.com. You can call Jack at 434-227-0839 or email him at jack@carbon-core.com. For the Long Island NY people, Reinforced Plastics Lab in Farmingdale (631-249-5490) is a distributor so you can save on shipping. Im sure they have other distributors peppered throughout the U.S. so give them a call.
These intro prices are too good to be true and I am super excited to be able to build my pilothouse out of honeycomb instead of plywood!!!!

No, I am not a paid spokesperson. lol. I just get super excited when good deals on great products come along. I am married with twin 4 year old boys which means I am super broke most of the time. So when I can get great stuff for my boat past what I can normally afford I get excited!
