swim platform for 170
« on: July 28, 2006, 09:59:50 AM »
I am looking to put a swim platform on the transom of my 170.  Do any of you guys have one that you want to sell, or can you tell me where to find one?  Are there any negatives as far as drag, etc.?  Just let me know your opinions and where I could find one.  Thanks,

John, you live in the toun with one of the largest boat parts warehouse in NC. Overtons has your platform. Go with the starboard outboard type. Mount it on the port side so you have a clean entrance in and out of the stern.

Carr,

Thanks!  I also have Boaters World right down the street as well.  I have not priced a new one, but I imagine they are costly.  I just wanted to see if anyone had one that they wanted to get rid of.  Do they create alot of drag while running?  Just curious.

No drag, the platform (when properly installed) is out of the water when at rest and even further above the water on plane.

For my two cents, pay attention to the ladder.  This will be the deciding factor as to the usability of the platform!  In all honesty, most of the ladders I have tried on others boats were harder to use than the engine itself.
