Hi guys,
I'm having my 87 250XF re-furbished and re-powered. I figured you all might be interested in a couple of pictures since there are not a lot of these on the site. The motors were twin mercury 115 2-strokes (2002 & 2003). The new motors are 2014 115 Mercury Opti's.
Exterior Before:
The forward walk-around was soft to walk on (almost bouncy) and had cracked allowing water into the cabin.
Interior Before:
Water damage clearly visible
Rotted Wood all the way around the front cabin under the carpet - also found termites which resulted in the boat being tented.
More water damage from water coming in on the walk around.
Removed the original cooler fridge, which was full of brittle plastic and found an exact replacement (white color) for it at Marine Connection in Fort Pierce.
During Rebuilding:
Front walk-around new floor
Honeycomb material used for new walk-around floor
Forward Port walk-around floor removed
Port walk-around flooring - also the joint/gap between the cabin and the port side paneling has been glassed over (the panel is solid now - no wobble)
Port panel with carpet and cup-holders removed
Starboard walk-around flooring
Cabin interior with carpet and forward walk around removed
Cabin interior with walk-around in place being prepped for gel-coat.
Transom with old motors removed
Transom redone - raised 5 inches to accommodate longer shaft motors.

Wow, major under taking replacing the walk around portion
Did you do the work yourself? Looks like it came out great

I unfortunately don't have the technical skills or tools to do it myself - even though I really wanted to - it seemed more cost effective letting someone who did do it. Markey's Marine is doing the rigging for the new outboards including the vessel view system. The gentleman doing my repair work is Tyrone and he works with Markey's Marine to do fiberglass repair and has his own little shop.
Once all this stuff is paid off will probably get the rear deck redone and a new gas tank - then sometime soon either painting or gel-coating since it is a 27 year old boat and that grey is fading in spots.

Excellent. You're correct with the lack of photos of your model so keep posting please.
What is the plan for the cabin now that the "rat fur" has been removed?

It is being sanded down to remove all the glue and provide a good surface for gel-coating. Having all the sections (like under the console area) that had open gaps that were covered by carpet - sealed up with fiberglass. The inside will be gel-coated white with some grey splatters on it after. Figure it is a lot easier to clean and it will not mold if it gets wet like the carpet did. Also gives me the benefit of seeing any cracks as they develop (if they come back).
The carpet was terrible - sections of it would disintegrate in your hands leaving fibers. Definitely some mask material when removing it.

Wow that looks so different with the 25 inch transom!. Looking really nice!! Can't wait to see your performance numbers with the new motors.

Hi guys. Just a update the boat is done for now and back in the water with the new motors. Still in break-in mode, but with light chop and breezy wind I am able to do about 28 knots at about 4300 rpm at 8 to 9 gph (total for both motors).
