Anyone out there running a jackplate (4-6 inch setback) on a Aquasport?
Looking at one to get my engine up to optimal height(mine is a 25 incher) right now it's about 1" to 1 1/2" to low and in the 3rd hole down..jackplate would be easier to use than to build up the transom and redrill higher..at least for now..
Any advise will be appreciated.

Also are there any jackplates to stay away from..

i had a jack plate on my 19'6. if your running shallow it defiantly helps as long as you dont go to high

I have a Bob's Machine manual jack plate on my 170. I love it. It was on the boat when I bought it. I really like the fact that it moves the motor back out of the cockpit giving you more room in the boat. I'm no authority on jack plates but around here Bob's machine are the most popular.

, thats the info I am looking for..the jack plate will be used to get the motor to the right height and then locked in place , not looking for a powered one, just one to raise my 25 inch 150 up so the cavitation plate is where it should be...looking at a 4 or 6 inch setback..

bobs machine has a nice manual one that can be converted to hydraulic later down the road if you wanted... i think they make it upto 14 inch setback...http://bobsmachine.com/Standard-Versa-J ... HP_c15.htm

i had a 6 inch setback hydraulic plate on my osprey, loved it!! allows the boat to run in skinny water...

you can see how shallow the water is in this pic, and the cavitation plate is right at the waters surface...

Good news with the Bob's manuals is they are adjustable upward while in the water.

Getting the cavitation plate up where it belongs will improve the ride and fuel efficiency.

Jackplate question: does moving the weight back that 4-6 inches have any effect on the waterline at the transom? What I'm driving at is my scuppers are already practically under water at rest with no added weight back there...would this shift in weight (plus additional 30lbs or whatever it is) make any practical difference in waterline at the stern?

I doubt the setback will make much difference. The added weight of the jackplate would probably do more. Add some weight to the bow to shift the CG fwd.
