porta-bracket swim platform
« on: July 20, 2006, 09:29:57 AM »
Porta-bracket has a swim platform model that looks interesting.  Does anyone currently run one of these?

What is its purpose as it doesn't appear to have a ladder of any sort to assist you in getting into the boat?  I carry the family a lot and need a way to get in and out after taking a dip.

Does it provide any other benefit while running or at rest (i.e. lift, trim, etc...)

Yes I have been all over the web site but other than calling it a swim platform model they don't give any specifics.

I guess one could hang one of those single pole ladder steps off the transom to create steps up to the swim platform.  Only problem is trim tabs are in the way.

Any other thoughts are greatly appreciated.

It looks like you could mount one of the folding/telescoping ladders to the swim platform.  Here's an example of one that mounts to the bottom of the swim platform:

They would probably work but they are going to serioulsy degrade the sleek look of the port-bracket.

I am going to email portaprodcuts for suggestions.

Found a solution.  Armstrong swing ladder.  A bracket mounts on the transom and the ladder can stay in the bracket and swing down into deployment position at any time or you can take the ladder out of the bracket and stow away.  They even sell clips to intsall on the outside of your transom so that you can stow it outside the boat in front of the motor.

Given its downward deployment angle I think it will clear the trim tabs as well.
