deck stains from overhanging tree
« on: July 03, 2006, 08:37:33 AM »
I had my 170 parked at my father-in-laws for the last week.  It had been sitting under a tree.  I noticed now that I have dark stains on the grey deck which came off the tree when it rained    I have tried bleach, greased lightning, and a couple of other things laying around the house and have had no luck.  I was thinking about sno bowl toilet bown cleaner.  I think this might work but would it take off the grey color on the deck :?: If any of you have any suggestions how to get this off the grey deck please let me know.  Thanks,

John

Try SoftScrub.  If it does not take it off, then try lacquer thinner.  SoftScrub works great for water soluble; lacquer thinner works for hydrocarbons and oil-based stuff.

Good luck, happy 4th, and see you on the water!

Thanks Gonefission.  I think I will try softscrub first.  If i remember correctly isn't it like a thick cream that you put down and scrub off?  Where can I find softscrub?

The best I have found is Barkeeper's Friend from the supermarket <$3.  It even takes off rust without damaging gel coat.  It probably does take the wax off.

You can get SoftScrub in the household cleaner aisle at your local grocery store.  Remember it has bleach, so watch your clothes!  (or just do like I do and don't wear much that you are worried about!)

Thanks for all of the good input.  Soft scrub and alot of elbow grease seems to do the trick.  Thanks again!
