1984 Evinrude 175 - Carb removal and clean
« on: July 29, 2006, 06:28:09 PM »
My engine runs great aside from when I go to put her under a load she dies. I have determined it more than likely is the low speed jet on the carb. Compression is goog, new plugs, water/fuel seperator, wires, pack and thermostats. I was wondering if anyone could add some insight as to the removal and cleaning of the carbs. I have three carbs and I am going to attempt to remove and clean. I am going to buy three carb kits, some cleaner and a can of compressed air. Is there any trick to this? I am pretty mechanically inclined however I have never done this before so wanted to check with the experts before I did.

It's really no big deal and very straight forward. An OE manual is probably a must for your first time but we can guide you along.
