99 Yamaha 150 wire question
« on: November 04, 2013, 09:10:27 PM »
99 Yamaha 150 Vmax (carbs),,, on the starboard back corner of the block- there is a red wire coming out of one of the engine wire bundles. it has a 30AMP inline fuse and then a female bullet connection,,, the wiring harness does not have anything to connect to this.
Anyone know what this is?

Thanks!

Chris, sounds a little light to me, but is it 10 GA?  Secondary charging lead?  30A is what sounds light...

you got it Bob, its a connection point for an optional battery isolator lead.

I'm going to put a little tab of electrical tape over the end of it just as a precautionary measure.

Thanks again!

Chris, was a little leery of my thought process there, as a charging lead (normally) off n alternator needs to have an output or the diode will fry.  But seeing as the batt cables take care of that output, it's fine.

Yes, wrap it up, or slip some heat shrink over the bullet...
