22-2 CCP HIN?
« on: November 15, 2013, 09:16:19 AM »
Have a CCP at the shop that was abandoned here.  Tag on transom is fubar, any ideas where the second plate might be?  OBTW did a search and didn't see this info, although it was a quick search

Futch, check fwd, maybe along the liner flange, maybe the inside of the cap flange.  One of the concepts behind the 2nd HIN is that should the boat come apart (separation of deck and hull, say, in a catastrophic accident), both "halves" can be ID'd by the Coasties.

On modern day Aquasports, if you pull down the rubrail fwd (some are on port, some on starboard), the 2nd HIN will be on the deck flange hidden by the rubrail extrusion...

You might have to remove the rodholder insert to see the plate if it is there. Full liner and all that.

Here is the thread that I posted on this subject.  My CCP is a 1986 and mine is located on the port side under the rubrail near the stern.  I looked at a late 70's CCP and there was not one there.  I don't think anyone is quite sure what year(s) they placed the second HIN there.

The second HIN on mine is on a plate on the console, but you can't read it...

Post some pics and we may be able to tell you about what year it is...

Thanks John.

Was able to get in touch with the original owner that it was registered to in 2006.  Back tracked the New Jersey registration from 06 and his daughter, as he is 93, said he donated it to a charity around Jensen Beach.  She doesn't know the charity and he can't remember it.  Although he knows they sold it cause he was able to take 3500 off his taxes as a donation  According to our sheriffs office it has not been reported stolen.  So, with that said I asked if she would try to get a duplicate title.  I had originally planned to just cut it up and put it in the dumpster, but that was before I knew it was an Aquasport.  Initially thought it was a Robalo or something like.

If this all happens then I will either sell it as is or rebuild it after I get the Proline done, if I ever get started  :D

Thanks again for every ones replies.

Too funny...

All the markings on the hull were gone and I never climbed up in to check the coast guard plate.  Really just never gave it thought until I talked with the Sheriffs dept and ran the NJ numbers

Anyone ever try an acid wash on the old aluminum HIN plates, see if it will "raise" the #'s?

In a round about way that is the way we got the HIN  Blackened it with a sharpie the used light sandpaper and pulled the number
