Fuel Line Grommets?
« on: October 16, 2013, 12:54:13 PM »
I'm putting new fuel lines from my under-deck 45 gallon tank out to my outboard.  What type of grommets do you use when passing through walls?  There were some pieces left of what looked like a hard white plastic grommet.  I'm guessing the originals were tighten from one side once the 3/8" fuel line was in place.  This is for a 1980 188 SR.

Anybody know of a source for these?  I could always just use plain black rubber grommets but the originals would look much better.

p,
Are you talking about where a fuel feed line exits from belowdecks out into the cockpit, and therefore in view?

Yes sir.  There was also one where the fuel line leaves the tank area below the deck on it's way back to the motor and then another when the line exits the hull near the motor.

Pulled and cleaned the tank today and it's in great shape.

There's a ton of grommets that are black...but white is a different animal.  What about a piece of PVC flared on the end?

I think  my 200XF had a hard white grommet of sorts where the fuel line left the coffin.  I was more of an edge guard than a true grommet though.  You'll just have to measure the diameter of the hole and then the thickness of the bullkhead you are going through.  I have even used a split hose as an improvised edge guard/grommet.
