Headlights

Promised the Admiral we'd take Miss D for an evening dinner cruise south to Wrightsville Beach. So tonight, after the T storms cleared out, we put down the lift and headed ten miles south around 7:30 PM.

Nice ride down, pretty sunset, high tide, no wind. Docked up, enjoyed a nice dinner. Around 9, we headed back. No moon...it was dark. Good and dark.

Clear the WB bridge heading back  N. Check the plotter, turn off the love lights...its dark except for the anchor lights and running lights, they're overhead. Power up....


"Turn on the headlights!" she exclaims. I pull back..."I'm sorry, what was that?"

"I can't see, you can't see, this is a brand new boat...turn on the headlights".

 

We're home, safe and sound.

It was an interesting ride home...and it WAS dark. Headlights may not be a bad idea after all....about 30 feet up, like on the barges

No handheld spotlight?  Go to wally world and you can get a 3 million candle power one for $26.  Just don't let her use it or you may be blind the rest of your life.

Rick... That was too funny and soooo true.  What is it with women and not understanding that a spotlight in the eyes is not a good thing..  Especially at night..  Double especially when you are driving the boat!

I have two spotlights in the garage, forgot to bring one in my haste to get going. Gonna leave one on the boat from now on.

Up here, only every third or fourth channel marker is a "blinker". And my old eyes, even with glasses, my depth perception at night has gone to chit.

Glad I run two strokes. I could see her lips moving but couldn't hear a thing

Went by Worst this morning. They had the Q Beam version of the Stanley you've shown....they wanted $74.95
