Alrighty guys, we're ready.

I cut a piece of rubrail from my '73. Lewis sent me a piece from his '74. Mine and Lew's were EXACTLY the same color.

In the meantime, Skoot went to the paint store and procured a color sample of his rubrail. I now have it in hand.

His color is different than Lew's and mine. It is just a hair darker, with a touch of teal/aqua. Ours was more of a dull green. His, as he describes it, is a Rubbermaid green. Very attractive.

Today am shipping Skoot's color and the rubrail samples to Barbour Plastics. We should hopefully have a firm quote by week's end.

Will keep you posted.

Sweet, Im glad it worked out for you guys. That sample was a spot on match. I double/triple checked it and even had Meredith confirm the color was perfect.

Just got off the phone with Barbour.

We've hit a wall so far.

They don't have an exact match to Skoots in any formula currently available. They have some close....they will forward to me what they have.

They MAY be able to custom formulate Skoot's color....ching-ching. His sample to be returned.

And more news....they do not make the exact extrusion that was sent. They have some they think may work.

Will keep you posted.

I saw this pile of green rubrail when I was looking through the vast surplus over at Marine Connection Liquidators in Ft. Pierce.  Remembered that a few of you were on a crusade for green rub rail, so I snapped a picture.  Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but they seemed to have alot of it.

Glock, thanks for the pic.

Guys, here's the news this morning from Barbour Plastics.

They do not have our rail style. They cannot reproduce Skoot's color. Colorwise, they have something close to Lewis's color, they call a "forest green." They have offered to do a run of this color in an extrusion that is similar to our rail style, 500 foot minimum. But they do not have the chemicals in house for the color, so they will have to get them.

And are you sitting down? Seven dollars and fifty cents per foot.

So, 60 feet would cost $450, plus shipping.

Fellas, at least we can say we tried.

I must have started drinkin' early today (duh) so....

Here's a shameless bump of a topic that has been left for dead. Hopefully someone can get the crash cart and get this thing going again. It's like a diamond in the rough and who better than our in house "Tiffanyist" to polish up this faded gem.

Thanks for digging this up CB, you're the best :thumright:

Alrighty boys, CB has bumped it for a reason...if we can get interest/commitments for 500 feet or more...we MAY be able to work with Integrity Marine in Mass. (see new post on "Vendor's)

They have recently become interested in producing colored rubrail for the rebuild market....blue, brown, maroon, and our green.

Please respond with your length requirements here. When we hit 500 feet, we'll negotiate a price. Not gonna put the cart before the horse this time, we'll work from a position of strength.

Thanks!

Members, late this afternoon received a call from the CEO of Integrity Marine Corporation viewtopic.php?f=12&t=9355

They are located in Massachusetts, and due to damage from Superstorm Sandy, have inquiries regarding colored rubrail.

They are now attempting to judge production runs. Specifically green, blue, brown, red, and teal. Read Aquasport, Mako, etc., etc.

The correct Aquasport "army man green" rubrail looks to be the first run. Better yet...they have Skoot's "Time Capsule" sample in hand from 2011.

We've tried hard as heck for three years to identify/ qualify/source historic product. All attempts have  failed...at least at reasonable cost.

Hate the circumstances, but the correct 70's rubrail may finally be available.

Let's keep our fingers crossed. Thanks.

Bill, unfortunately nothing has panned out. Marine Connection Liquidators has some green, mostly shorter lengths, but the color is somewhat incorrect.
