2003 17' Osprey
« on: May 22, 2013, 09:55:16 AM »
My 2004 17' Osprey has a 90 hp Yamaha 2 stroke with a 13 1/4 X 17 prop.  At WOT it she is at 5100 rpms and doing about 30 plus.  Does that compare well with you other 17' guys?  Just wondering?

Mine is a 1975 with a 110 Evinrude, same prop, around EDIT 5300rpm to 5500rpm, I run anywhere from 39 to 45mph depending on load at WOT. I tried a 13x19 prop and it fell on its face, 34mph

I have a 1987 model with a 97 Evinrude two stroke 90HP.  I'm not sure of my prop size but she runs 38 MPH WOT at about 5400-5500 RPMS.

I have a 90 evinrude.  I used to run a 17" three blade.  Generally I could get 39 mph at 5100 rpm.  Now I'm running a four blade 14" pitch.  I can get 5450 at 37 mph.  It has a mean hole shot now.

I have the motor pin in the 5th hole.  It is the hole closest to the transom.

I think he was after what mounting holes are the bolts that hold the motor on the transom are in.  This determines the motor height...  yours could be mounted too low slowing you down.

Wingtime,  the motor is bolted to the transom using the second hole from the top and the bottom hole.  I got to thinking and my GPS was on knots and not mph so that would make 34 knots into 37.5 mph.  Seems to me that would be more in line with what other folks are reporting.  Thanks for all of your replies to my question.

I have a '97 115 merc on my 175.  Can't say I ever really go WOT, but cruising speed around 4000 rpms I'm doing 30-33 mph.

175 with 01 Johnson 90 equipped with 13.25 x 17 SS prop will just hit 40 mph at 5200 RPM if water is perfect and I am the only one in the boat.
