Ethanol repealed ?
« on: June 04, 2013, 02:18:39 PM »
Just when I had given up on any hope there being any common sense left in government....
I read that the state of Florida repealed the law on mandatory selling of ethanol at service stations.
Is it true?
If so  :salut:

Bill,
Where did you read that? I heard that it was disucussed in the Florida legislature but in reality it's federal law and not up for grabs from state government...

I guess we'll see what happens and how it carrys over into other states. I guess its the same thing as states legalizing pot but its still against federal law.

Great news!  The ethanol is only marginally affordable due to government subsidies anyways!

I read about it couple days ago on a Pontiac forum, the link Blue Agave posted is the same article they had. It's great news if it sticks......
Someone needed to get ball rolling
Problem is if all the refineries have switched over to ethanol, will they spend the money to switch back.
Where are the stations going to get non ethanol ?
There are 3 refineries located within 30 miles of me, the last holdout just switched to ethanol last Nov.

I talked to a station owner trying to get him to think about carrying recreational fuel and he told me that it cost him, for the size tanks he has, $10k per tank to get them cleaned, ready and certified for ethanol.  So think about that money spent just to give it up to go back to non-ethanol???  Would be a tough call.  Non-ethanol is upwards of a $1 higher than ethanol fuel right now in some places, not sure there is a lot of profit in it.
The owner finally, after about two years, put in or converted a tank to recreational fuel.  Last I checked (and bought) his rec fuel was like 60 cents a gal higher than low test ethanol.
We'll see how it goes.  I've heard Marathon is a big provider of rec-fuel, but not here even though they have a station or two here.

I think most of the rest of marathons that carry non-ethanol are on the water, on the way to Okeechobee on the Caloosahatchee I saw quite a few, the most recently I saw one on land was in key largo.

Yea Bryan
We are still here and yes we felt it.
I was in a lounge chair around the pool.
I looked around thinking some dump ass was shaking my chair...
A guy about 10 feet away gave me a look like maybe  I was screwing with his chair

My wife was in the room when it happened.....she said it shook the building pretty good for about 5 seconds.

As you know...quakes come with the territory out west

Besides, this whole Island is nothing more than one damn big volcano

The day before we are laying around the pool and the tsunami sirens go off.
I am thinking what the hell do we do now....sirens blared for about 30 seconds then went silent
Looked around and everyone was carrying on like normal ....must have been a test I quess
