Aquasport 170 striper rebuild with 150 hp optimax
« on: November 02, 2013, 09:01:11 PM »
hello once again. I've been away for a while rebuilding my boat for almost a year. I replaced the 90 hp outboard with a 2008 150 optimax . even tho the boat is reated for a 130 but I figured 20 more hp wont hurt. I replaced the floor and also lifted the transom to accommodate the opti since it was a 25" shaft. I finally finished the boat let me know what you guys think in the mean time. ill be uploading more pictures tomorrow.

Boat's gonna be fun with that Opti on her!!  I like the addition of the bulkheads outboard of the stringers to the chines.  Really cuts down on the unsupported panels on the hull bottom... :thumleft:  :thumleft:

Make sure you slow down slowly the first few times and keep an eye on the backwash of the water coming off plane.  Too much weight on the back of the boat will have a tendency to swamp it coming off plane.
Looks like you're stiffening her up a bit too  :salut:

Nice work dude.  Wow 150 that's going to be interesting.  Unrelated-how much did you get the 150 for?  I'm probably gonna need to repower with a Opti 115 in the next few years.
