170 Osprey evening ride video
« on: May 02, 2013, 12:41:12 AM »
Amy and I took out the 170 last night after work.  i figured this was a good time to play with the Gopro camera.  I mounted it to the windshield rail with the handlebar mount and shot some videos.  Here is one...  we spotted something floating in the water and we went to go see what it was...  turns out it was a floaty tube...  so now we have one of those!

Great video!  Looks like they pretty much fixed the fisheye effect the older versions have.  I find that I need to use the dessicant packets if I use the waterproof case on mine, at least while it is cool out, otherwise I get condensation on the lens.  I'm leery of using the open back case on the boat...these things are too expensive to risk getting wet IMO.

I had the lcd back on it with the touch screen case back on it. Yeah I'm  too chicken to take it on the boat with the skeleton back on it. It sounds like some sounds were conducted thru the mount into the housing. I still have to learn what is the best software to combine the clips into one video.

Some people. The plastic that is blown out/thrown out of boats is sickening.  It is really evident during hurricanes, the shore is covered with the stuff.

Bruce, how fast were you guys running? That little ride was zipping right along :thumright:

She will run about 38-39 WOT.  I can maybe squeak out 40 playing with the trim and the right water conditions.  3000-3200 RPM and she will cruise  about 23-24 mph.  That 90hp is a nice match for that hull...  comes out of the hole like right now!

Nice video!  8)

We always try to bring trash off the lake when we head in. We find all sorts of junk. I've brought a shopping cart off the lake, buckets upon buckets of trash, clothes, life jackets, floats.
I have yet to find a car but I bet it's possible.

I'm not a neat freak but it's hard to see all that trash left all over the place.
