Went and bought a new laptop yesterday to replace my six year old one that was having some issues. This has Windows 8 but I can't see why this is better then what I had (Windows Vista) which worked good for me. I guess I will get used to it, but seems like it's more work to operate.

I guess they needed to come up with something new, but they seem to have a lock on the computer market.

Windows 7 wasn't around long but then it is really Vista done correctly.

I run 7 on our main box and have been running Vista since 09.

Still have XP on the gamer.

I run XP with no reason to upgrade to either Vista or 8.  They are both Microsoft's take on Apple's OS X platform.  Since Maggie has the latest Imac, I see no reason to upgrade...

Don't know if I'll ever "need" to upgrade to Win8 since it was designed more for tablets.  I know it'll work for PCs too but Win7 is just fine for me.  Win8 is all Silverlight technology.

After a few days I am getting more comfortable with it. It is not anything I would suggest that anyone upgrade to as it is not worth it. As I needed a new puter anyway, I don't feel bad.

You have to figure out how it works. There is a app for that, but who reads directions. I just try different things and see what happens. There are icons along the side of the screen that you use but don't see until you run your pointer to the edge of the screen. The tiles that you click on are one click and not the double click. You can add all the apps you want or need for you favorite websites.

Instead of having to click out of a website you can just wipe it off the screen. Still learning the features but getting the hang of it.
