My 1974 170 rebuild

hey guys,
I just found this site and would like to share my story.  I am half way thru my 170 rebuild.  I started with a good hull and transom.  the console was junk and no seat.  the floor needed some work.  I have just finished the floor and have got most work finished with the brand new console.  I used all new flush mount electronics and gauges.  new fuel tank and new Starboard floor/gas tank cover.  I want to install a bilge pump but I dont know where to put the discharge.  I cant get to the sides of the boat from the bilge due to stringers.  any thoughts on where to take the discharge?  I will post some pics when I get time.

Joe,  Welcome aboard!  Were getting more and more 170'ers here.

Regarding the pump discharge, there has been a fair amount of discussion about best location.  You may want to review the rebuilds forum for some ideas.  Miguel, I believe, went through the bilge pump excercise with his 170 so you may want to look at some of his posts.

There was a hole drilled through a stringer to run a hose to the starboard side of my boat.  My bilge discharges there.

In my 87 222, there is also a hole in the starboard side stringer, where the wires for the bilge pump also run through, and the bilge hose runs up to a plastic thru-hull at the rear starboard corner.

The problem is that I have already finished my floor and the only access I have to the bilge is thru a small access hatch in the rear center.  I may just run a fitting thru the floor somewhere in the back corner of the floor and run a hose over the transom.

Thanks for the help everyone!!  I got the bilge dischare ran last night.  after punching a hole in the rear port side of the boat, Just above the floor on the inside, I was able to reach the tube in the stringer after removing some foam.  I then installed a 90 deg. thru-hull fitting just below the rub rail and connected the discharge hose.  a standard 3/4 bilge hose fit perfectly inside the tube in the stringer with room left over for water to flow in the bilge.  I then installed a standard 6 inch hatch access plate to finish the job.  I then punched a hole in the gas tank holding compartment to run the wires back to the bilge and then up thru the gas tank cover / floor and on up to the console.  I made sure to seal the hole in the gas tank compartment that I ran the wires thru.  looks like it came from the factory with it installed.  should I worry about the foam that I had to remove between the outter and inner hull?  whould I replace it?
