Survived Sandy OK, but snow storm is another story
« on: November 08, 2012, 08:43:21 AM »
My brother's 225 Osprey was tied off on the lift during Sandy and seemed to make it through ok, although it did float and settled back on the lift perhaps a bit too much forward.  The little bit of snow last night appears to have been enough to cause it to tip.  I think he still has ropes tied off to the back cleats, so that's probably all that is keeping it from nose diving right now.  They still do not have power, so they are apparently trying to manually lower the lift.  I'm sure that's not fun.

That would be a 225 Explorer Craig.

He should be able to lower the lift manually (usually a lever to disengage the motor), but it is a slow process.  Best wishes to them!!

BTW, glad you guys keep it in the Aquasport family!!

Doh!  You're right Bob, I guess I have Osprey on my brain  .  I'm not sure how his lift operates.  Mine is different, and it doesn't have a disengage lever.  The fun part will be the motor on the other side of the lift.  And the tide is about 2' higher than normal, evidently pushed in by the NE winds.  If the tide starts going out, it will be a race!

Ok - just got a text that the boat is OK!  Must have managed to lower the lift quicker than I expected!
