I guess with the hurricane just passing this has come up. If your boat is out of the water on blocks or a trailer, and you live near the water, is it better to leave the drain plug in or out.
With the plug in it fills with rain, but will hopefully float if the water level (storm surge) comes up to the point of floating the boat.
If you leave it out your boat sinks.
There are other things to consider also such as boat covers to keep rain out, but they just blow off or tear in the wind. Auto bilge pumps to pump the rain out, but how long can they run until the battery goes dead or the pump burns up.
Any suggestions from the people who have now dealt with this?
