Rob,
Ladyfish are great for kids, run into a school and you'll have a decent fight on almost every cast.  But when you want "the good stuff", i.e. reds, snook, trout, flounder, they get REAL old, REAL quick!! :x  :x

I keep my boat in St James City at the Monroe canal Marina but pick up clients all over the area. Punta Rassa would probably be the closest pick up for you. You been fishing through this crazy wind too?  Estero bay is a great place to hide even when it blows 25 plus.

I have some older Penn's (International's to Squidders)
All upgraded and tricked out (Way too much $ spend on them)
However, they still work great.
I have some Newell's (some upgraded and some stock)
If you can find a nice clean or NIB they are great.
I have some new Shimano stuff, Saltist, Trinnadad, Curado.
They are really nice and work great, they just need a little care.
I have a couple of Accurate reels, they are awesome!
I do find myself worring about being carful with them.
(I will only use them on my boat and will really good friends)
Dont want them damaged or overboard!

I have fished for over 40 years, I have had not so good gear and great gear
However getting a good quality reel and rod will last you a lifetime if
maintained and cared for.
Look around at a shop you trust and feel the reels and rods, go with what feels right to you
Your the one going to be using it

Good luck

Bryan
