Streak ends at 79
« on: October 12, 2012, 02:11:39 PM »
Our dry spell ended today
79 days without any measurable rain  :D
Was a heck of a run of nice weather...Had temps into the 70's up till last couple days
Nicest fall I can ever remember

Now 9 months of grey skies and rain to look forward to.

With the on slot of rain, time to ignore the AS and get the river gear ready.
3 months of Salmon fishing in our local rivers.  :D  :D

Damn I luv this time of year

Wow, 79 days without rain...that's incredible, considering down here, be in the right place in the summer, you can get 79 straight days WITH rain!!  Not all day mind you, but...

Yeah, I think I'll take the weather in the Southeast.
My son spent a year at NAS Whidbey Island, WA.  He was miserable the entire time.
I met a guy in Bradenton from somewhere in the NW and he was astonished at FL summer t'storms.  He said yeah, it rains all the time up there but mostly mist or drizzle wherever he was from.  He said we got more rain in 30 minutes than they did all winter.

I think I read somewhere that FL actually has more rain days than the NW.

We get around 3' a year.
This year we hit our yearly average by May.
Then it rained all of May, June.
We needed a dry spell...got to admit it was getting dried out and dusty around here.

The Southeast dominated the most rainy list, while the Pacific Northwest never enters the list until Olympia, Washington pops up at number 24.

The 10 rainiest cities in the U.S. by amount of annual rainfall include:

Mobile, Ala.: 67 inches average annual rainfall; 59 average annual rainy days
Pensacola, Fla.: 65 inches average annual rainfall; 56 average annual rainy days
New Orleans, La.: 64 inches average annual rainfall; 59 average annual rainy days
West Palm Beach, Fla.: 63 inches average annual rainfall; 58 average annual rainy days
Lafayette, La.: 62 inches average annual rainfall; 55 average annual rainy days
Baton Rouge, La.: 62 inches average annual rainfall; 56 average annual rainy days
Miami, Fla.: 62 inches average annual rainfall; 57 average annual rainy days
Port Arthur, Texas: 61 inches average annual rainfall; 51 average annual rainy days
