Anclote ramp
« on: September 29, 2012, 09:14:45 AM »
Does anyone launch at the Anclote ramp on Baileys Bluff Rd. I haven't lauched there yet but hear it's a problem due to strong currents. Is this really the case, and is it really that bad?

That is the best place I have ever seen to get the heck beat out of your boat.  It doesn't matter how careful you are, someone else will do it for you.

I've launched from there a few times.  The current can really rip but I didn't have too much trouble with it..  try to get a ramp further north if you can.  If you watch the current and the other noobs it's Ok.  If you don't have much experience than it could give you some trouble.  Just remember to use the current in your favor.

If you use Google Earth, there is an add-on for all the ramps in FL. Google "earthnc_flramps.kmz", download it and then double-click it to install.  Someone spent some time on it for sure.
