185 Striper, 215 Striper? new for 1996?

Idle curiosity....noticed the listings for these 2 new models, with full specs and pricing, in the Jan. 96 Sport Fishing Boat Buyers Source Book.  Looks like AS would have had the first line of bay boats on the market, but I've never heard of these models until now. Anybody got the skinny?

We don't have a 1996 Aqua catalog (yet) so we can only bracket these models using the 95 and 97 catalogs. These are available for viewing in the Forum Photo Gallery in the Catalog folder toward the bottom of the index.

Don't see any type "Striper" labeled in 95 and only a 165 Striper labeled in 97. Could be that Aqua did indeed list a 185 and 215 Striper that model year. We don't have evidence in the form of a catalog. Still...

What you have is all that I know of and as usual can be very helpful in recreating model lines. Is it possible for you to scan your docs and e-mail to me?

I can see what you have and place them under a folder the Admin will create. JPG file would be great but we can work with a PDF also.

Well, seeing as I was there in '96, I would have to say that those 2 models may have been wishful thinking on the part of Todd and Sidney, but most likely were shot down before they built the molds (why build molds and then not build the boats?).  The only Striper we had was the 165, the identical twin to the Wellcraft 160CCF...

Evidence of those 2 guys love of bay boats was in the fact that when they left and went to Hydra-Sports, they really concentrated on the 20 and 22 Bay Bolt models.

I'll get the pages scanned and sent in - the 165 Striper is in here too, $8750 with a 48hp.

The phantom 185 is listed at $15070 w/112hp and the 215 at $20280 w/ 150hp.

Good decision not to make them, them bayboat thingies would never have sold......
