Cooler Seat, any suggestions?
« on: April 04, 2006, 02:34:39 PM »
I've been conflicted the past few days about what to do about the cooler/seat combination that is on the boat, the cooler is all done, the plastic skin is gone on the top, the corners all have holes and the foam is exposed on the top of the cooler.  I will post pictures tonight as I used a digital camera to take some before shots so more later tonight when I get home.

I thought about a unit from Wise however they don't even have any nor does Boaters World, the main concern I have with the units nowadays is that the cooler does not come out like the unit I now have does and it makes the biggest difference when needing to do something in the console so I've thought about a new cooler however in my search I have not been able to find a "perfect-fitting" cooler, just the Igloo that I'm going to buy tonight from West Marine, the 94 quart version as it is 34 3/4" and the base of the old cooler was 36" so I'm hoping that it will fit well enough and with some creative shimming or adding a cooler tie-down kit will make it a secure seat for way less than the $250-400 cooler/seat combo's where the cooler/storage section cannot be taken in or out when necessary.

I will post more tonight and the pictures as well, my typing is nothing without the visuals, I just forgot my flash drive today.

And the boat/motor is on its way from down south, the motor is coming off of an Angler so it is taking its time, if not this weekend, they should have the motor so I can bring the boat in on or around the 15th/Saturday of April.

I think I'm gonna go with a leaning post which can have a cooler slid underneath.

I got a great deal in a custom made leaning post with 4 rod holders, foot rest, hand rail and room for a 72 qt cooler.  Check out classicimagemarine.com.  They shipped it up to Connecticut in a couple of days.  I'm really glad that I got it.
