Bimini frame morphed into a dodger frame?
« on: June 25, 2012, 04:04:46 PM »
Any thoughts on converting a Bimini support frame into something suitable as a frame for a dodger? With some additional framing and the legs cut down, 'think it would work?

Yes dodger frames are typically made using the same hardware and tubing as a bimini.  Only a dodger frame is typically fully curved.

Hey Wingtime; thanks for chiming in. Mine are curved, but would have to be cut down height-wise and the bends adjusted to assume a rounded dodger shape. Think that's practical with s/s tubing?

well bimini frame would have bends and maybe a crown to it... but a dodger should be radiused closely to the shape of the bow area.

I agree with Mr.Wingtime....While a bimini an a dodger are similiar they are very different,a bimini is relatively flat a dodger has a lot of compound curves. You may be able to make a dodger out of a bimini, but it may require more effort than its worth, and the end result might not be what you want. But hey,go for it!Just my .02,good luck!
