Anybody read the AS thread on THT?

I did and did my best to not comment as my almost 20 yo AS is not what the poster was looking for and I'm pretty sure that there is no comparison to the AS' of late to the 70's and 80's AS'. Interesting what some have to say though.

People are complaining about their newer Aquasports.

Thanks for filling me in. Don't know alot about the new ones other than looking at them, but I fell like the older AS'S have much more "character" and are nicer looking boats. Hope I don't offend anyone.

I have now read through the complete thread on Aquasport opintions on the hull truth site
http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=99515&start=1
. There are currently 33 posts. Only TWO of these posts are really negative. Personally, I think that is a pretty amazing average - and the comments covered both older and post-Genmar Aquasports. I read THT daily and I cannot remember such positive overall reactions to any middle-of-the-line boat.

Besides, it looks like the guy who asked for the opinions is going for the Aquasport.

I'm one of the posters from THT with a newer 02 AS. I don't come here often because I know most of you guys would not consider this boat a classic AS, and I understand why. However I do have experience with an older 19'6 cc. Loved that boat.
I think maybe, just maybe, that my 02 AS may one day be looked upon as a classic because of the layout. The cockpit is huge for a 25 footer and it performs very well with one outboard. This combo will work very well with todays fuel prices.
By the way I go by freespirit on THT. Freespirit is the name of my old V20
Summerschool is the AS

Thanks for stopping by Summerschool!
Please stay around and contribute when you can. Sounds like you're an experienced Aquasport hand so your opinions & general input with both the 19-6 and the 25 footer are most welcome.

My AS is not a classic since it is a 01 but I love the way all the AS boats look. But now that they stopped making the AS, which I cannot beleive they did, maybe my boat is now concider a classic? The boat has been graat and the family really enjoys it.

Welcome aboard Summerschool and Michael. Any AS is better than not owning one at all.
Summerschool, a buddy of mine owns a 25 family fisherman or something - was only made for 2 years and you're right, the cockpit is huge. It seems that he could put my whole boat in the cockpit area of his. Nice fishing area.
Again, welcome aboard guys.

I posted my thoughts on that post. Many times on THT people who have never been on a particular brand of boat, feel that they can give advice on the boat. I think that appears to be what Mr. Grady was doing. But not too many negative comments and the ones that were posted were about the new boats it appears.

After my tenure as a salesman at a Grady Dealership in the early 90's, I can assure, Grady is not without their issues. I love THT, everyone talking, nobody listening until you use a fighting word. Except this time, I'm glad to see logic prevailed. I don't post there much anymore, but I still browse the photos. I don't know that I would have steered that guy into a Genmar special, I've seen major issues on Hydra Sports and have heard of more than one Genmar AS inner liner seperation.
