Below Deck FIsh Box Question

We are planning on making a couple of runs offshore this weekend to go after some snapper and cobia. We have a 250 CCP with a 360 QT below deck fishbox that we haven't used yet but are planning on using for this trip. How much ice would you use? We get our ice from a shrimp dock for pretty cheap. For a 360 QT box do you think 200 QTs of ice would suffice for 6-8 hours on the water? Thanks in advance.

In pounds...60 lbs in the fishbox should be a gracious plenty for an eight hour trip. The below-deck box on a 250 CCP is well insulated.

I have a 1987 250 CCP with the below deck fish box.  I take 120lbs of ice on every trip.  Usually 40 lbs in the 120qt cooler for drinks, 20lbs in my aft. cooler for food and the rest for the fish.  I sometimes use the cooler ice at the end of the trip for the run back in.  60lbs should be your minimum IMHO.

Thanks for the responses. We ended up not going out because the wind just never let up. It was really rough. We have a couple of 100+ QT ice chests that we can get filled with ice at the shrimp dock for $10. We will probably just fill one of those up and dump it in the fish box when we make an offshore run.

Jose knows his ride....120 pounds of ice on the boat for an offshore trip...60 lbs for food and drink, 60 lbs for fish.
