Prop selection for 175 with Evinrude 115 SPL
« on: November 01, 2011, 02:03:50 PM »
Just wondering what props folks are using.  Was going to grab a spare for my 175.  It's a 1998 and I have a 115 SPL on it from the same year.
Anyone have good/bad experiences with different sizes/pitches of props on a similar rig?
Thanks

I don't have a 115 on my 170.  But I do have a sweet running 90 evinrude.  And I have played a lot with props.  You should stick with a 17" pitch.  I would use a factory style OMC SST 13 7/8"x17" prop.  They perform good and and are priced right.  Do you have any needs you want to change that a prop may be able to cure?  Holeshot, porpoise, over-reving, ventilation/cavitation?

Here's a start, if you haven't read it already. If not, first one's free.

I' agree with akbridge. I've got the same boat, and  same year as yourself , but the motor  is a 1998 evenrude 90 spl. My pitch is a 17' inch as well. I use the boat for tubing and fishing mainly and the prop pitch is right on even though the boat is  overloaded by 50 lbs or so at times. Good luck!
