1974 19-6 Aquasport Rebuild
« on: May 12, 2012, 09:02:35 PM »
Here is my Mike's personal boat. He is working on it on next to the proline. He got everything out today. We lifted the cap off and took out the console, front deck, and floor. Whoever had it before had done some work on the floor and foamed in some interesting artifacts.

Check out the green rubrail

Console Removed, Busy day at Fiber-plastics

Cap removed

About to remove the front deck

Front Deck Removed

Subfloor work done in the past by previous owner(s)

Previous foam work, inflated rubber gloves and overnight shipping boxes foamed in!

Excellent!!

That mystery stuff was cheap filler in 1992

Save that army-man green rubrail. It may be worth a thousand dollars per foot on E-Bay in a few years

All kidding aside...thanks for joining, and glad you're here :thumright:

You're getting a clean job. Most of the Proline stringer rebuilds thus far have utilized the glass-wrapped grid system.

I think this one is a 19-6.

Side by side rebuilds, I don't think I have seen that one before!

The transom work has already started on the 19-6 also. We plan on doing the 19-6 transom and the proline at the same time. Doing the rebuilds at the same time have both of us inspired to work a little faster. Everytime one of us gets a step done, the other wants to catch up!

Inside of the Dolphin...

Is that the "Dolphin" that was built just outside Homestead (Princeton) Fla. ?
If so, they always advertised "No wood, no rot".

It sure looks like that builder's boat.

Just curious.

EDIT: Is this the same builder? http://www.dolphinboats.com/bayboat_20.php

It is a 1978 Dolphin. The stringers were foam filled, and had old wet foam. The something busted loose around the fuel tank, the hull split and the boat sank. Mike towed it in, fixed it, and then bought it from the guy. They later went back in and reglassed the stringers and beefed them up. They re-foamed it with modern foam and cut the liner out, then added a new floor.

After prepping the transom, Mike is pondering going in a different direction. He may extend this hull 18". We measured today and its very possible despite the taper. Stay tuned. In the meantime...
