Meet me at the harbor at 0500 and I'll show you how it's done on the Left Coast!
Had the same issues on my Aquasport 175. My anchor locker hatch along with the center console doors would fly open during bad weather and was annoying at best and unsafe at worst if I dealt with it while under way. Don't remember who makes it but it looks like a nylon wing nut with a stainless steel screw through the center. You fasten it above the door that comes open. And its cheap ! Hope that helps.
What about a roller slam latch?
Quote from: "wingtime"What about a roller slam latch?Bruce, I'll reckon you have a similar hatch up forward - does yours have a retention mechanism ?
Actually no T I don't have a anchor locker forward since I have a pulpit. The roller slam latch I was referring to is actually a surface mount roller catch that I have had on several different boats and they work great. Here is a link to one:http://www.reddenmarine.com/nylon-roller-catch-surf-mount-large.html

Scott had a great suggestion with the Perko latch, but this will serve the purpose for a fraction of the price, and with the savings I can buy three or four more Tuna Clones:http://images.cabelas.com/is/image/cabe ... 80&wid=380B, I have a question for ya.... where does your anchor line get stowed ? there must be a locker of some type, and doesn't that locker have a hatch? I am befuddled.
There is a rope locker below deck and the rope and chain is fed into it thru one of these: http://www.go2marine.com/product/99735F/hinged-chain-and-rope-deck-pipe-6008h.html
