Stringer material

Can anyone tell me if/when AS switched from wood to composite material for the stringers and such in their boats?  I own a 1995 225 Explorer and was wondering

Stringers were never wood, they have always been fiberglass and foamed filled, the transom on your 95 may or may not be composite, others on here will chime in on that one.  Your deck is cored with end grain balsa.

Aquasports have never employed wood as stringers, or within the stringers.

They were from inception inverted foam-filled fiberglass trapezoids.

You have foam filled stringers, not a stringer grid like the 245, whereas a grid is glassed in place and then foam is injected, but more akin to the Compsys type system...

But no wood in the stringers!!

Hey guys, not to be a jerk, but the inside edge of the stringers in my 170 is cored with 1/2 ply about 3/4 of the way forward.

Good point, I forgot about that. My 19-6 has the same thing. I just think it's funny that they were way so far ahead with their thinking and now the industry has finally caught up. 40 years later.

Fletch, you are right.

My glass guy said it was in there as a stiffener when the foam was poured. When we opened up the stringers there wasn't much left of it.

State of the art construction in 1967 for stringers.
If the foam only stayed dry there would not be so many members here.

Thanks guys, so the transom may or may not be wood, the deck is cored and the stringers are not wood.  Appreciate it!
