DRAIN HOSES
« on: May 22, 2012, 09:59:44 PM »
hello Im new to this forum.Medusa is my name and I have a 1999 245 osprey center console w twin 150 offshore Mercs. My problem is I have no plans or know whwer I can obtain them.My forward lower compartment was neglected by the former owner allowing it to fill with water due to clogged drains, the water froze and the hose disconnected under the compartment.now the hull fills up.I think i need to cut a hole and replace the hose or put a secondary bilge under the compartment???
CAN ANYONE HELP/?????? :alien:

gents, When i bought the boat the compartment had water in it , I drained out with a pump. I stuck the hose into the hole and pump out another 30 gals or so.
i stuck my finger in the hole and there was no hose connected, there was a brass flange which I removed and checked again, No hose,I believe the water in the compartment FROZE Ergo no hose. This is all theory to me. I would think there should be a hose but I dont know for shure..John

Welcome aboard bro!Are you talking about the hatch in the deck right in front of the center console? That is supposed to drain down into the bilge and out the back of the boat. One of two things...the bow is too low to drain the water or the drain holes down there are clogged up,if thats the case you may be able to clear them with a water hose, some pics would help.

Welcome aboard Medusa :salut:

Is the drain hose indeed disconnected from the drain? That would be a weird thing, since it (the drain hose) is connected underneath the box to the drain (a nylon thru-hull fitting from the factory) via two stainless hose clamps.

Most likely, the hose is clogged with leaves, pine straw, fish remnants, plastic, etc. Go with pete's recommendation of a blaster garden hose. Failing that...run a plumber's snake through the drain and hose.

Pete knows all too well, we call that compartment the "Haitian Hatch", figure out how many Haitians you could smuggle in there!

Anyway, the drain should be a PVC pipe that runs aft under the fuel tank compartment to the bilge.  It could have a piece of foam stuck in it, some leaves, God knows what.  I'd try a good plumbers snake to ream it out, see what happens...

Gran 398, As i explained the compartment was full because it may have been clogged, the problem aoccured when the water froze and thus causing the hose to disconect. How do I fix the problem   Thanks John

John, you're in luck.

Seabob may have built your boat at the Aquasport plant. He knows more about modern Aquasport production than the rest of us combined.

He's an expert, and feel sure he'll solve your drainage issue :thumright:
