Teleflex Line Question
«

Hey guys, I will be running everything through a 3 inch flexible tube that will go from the deck to the motor. Everything but the Hydraulic Steering lines, which will come through the deck on their own. In most factory applications, they have water tight fittings that you fix to the hull sides or deck to ensure water does not get in where the lines go through. Pictured here:

However, it looks like in most kits, these fittings are not included. Pictured here:

Do these actually come with the fittings, or can I buy them somewhere?
Any help would be awesome guys and gals.

That is a kit called a bulkhead hose kit. You must order it with the correct length hoses for your application.

So I'm assuming that connects to the line from the Kit? OR, am I going to need to piece together a kit on my own? I wonder how much line I really need for my 17? Looks like I'll be doing a lot of math this weekend.

Fletch,
Got your PM, I'll answer your other questions in that. But, about the bulkhead fittings on the hoses in your link. No, you cannot buy them separately as the flexible ribbed ends will not fit over the swaged hydraulic fittings. The little circular mounting plates will, which facilitates correct steering line location holes and mounting holes (easier holding a little small plate than the whole hose assy!), but, as I said, the flexable ends won't fit over the swaged fittings. We used these hoses at WC/AS and at Stamas.
Now, what we used at PL were similar to the Teleflex HF5515 kit...
http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/us ... 3&type=pla
, but we made our own out of supplies one can buy at HD. Not nearly as elegant as the ones you want to use, plus you need 4 hoses, 2 long to reach from the helm to the fittings, and 2 short from the fittings to the cylinder...
What I would do? But the Baystar kit AND the hose kit with the b/head fittings you want, then put the hoses that come with the kit on ebay to recoup some of the cost of the extra set of hoses. I didn't check the length of the hoses in the ebay kit you linked to, but $107 is an excellent price for that set of hoses. Worst usually starts around $175 for the same set, going up in price for longer hoses...
I'm also thinking you'll want (2) 16 footers, 4' under the helm, 8' back to the splashwell, another 4' out to the motor.

Seriously, I'm going to have 8 grand into a $800 boat. However, it's going to be one of the nicest 17 AS's around.
