the CG run hondas here, on both their RIBs and service/maintence boats. FWC has been running yamaha on their flats patrol boats, but optimax on their larger patrol boats and research boats. the patrol boats have been switching to yammy, but the research still have opti's... homeland runs trip and quad v-rods. thats a pretty penny :silent:
It sucks to hear that tax dollars are not buying motors from a US company. It would be like the FHP and law enforcement driving Toyota camary's in my book.Capt Matt
My local mercury dealer lost income as government agencies now get their own parts direct from mercury and do the services and most of the repairs themselves.Capt Matt
Most every FWC, USCG and sheriff around me still run merc's with lots of Opti's on the smaller boats and Verado's on the big RIB's.
My local mercury dealer lost income as government agencies now get their own parts direct from mercury and do the services and most of the repairs themselves. They get the parts cheaper than he can and only bring the motors to him if its a really serious problem like replacing a power head. He used to make a ton of money off them doing all the services. Triple 250hp verado 100hr service has to be close to $3K, easy money for the marina.Capt Matt
