Catfish Hunter: 215DC Fuel Vent
« on: December 22, 2011, 09:27:07 PM »
Catfish Hunter stated in a previous post:
"Had trouble filling the gas tank. We drilled out the filter at this end of the vent line -no more problem. Air just wasn't getting out. Mechanic said it had too many bugs from Florida in it !!"

I recently refueled my DC and kept spitting gas back at me (never did that before). Is this a fuel vent issue? Where is the fuel vent, and how do I check it?

Any advice is appreciated.

Dan,
You probably have a combination fill/vent cap.  If you pull the inspection plate by the fuel fill, you'll see both the fill hose and the vent hose go to the deck fill.

Can't say I've ever "drilled out" the vent "filter", but obviously Catfish has...

Hi,

The fuel vent "filter" is actually a metal screen on the outside of the vent. A good cleaning to get rid of spider webs/mung, etc. should do the trick, allowing it to breathe, dissipating fumes.

Th only bugs I've heard of coming out of Florida are lobster...and boy oh boy, that beats the heck outta frozen Carolina turkey from the "House of Raiford" for Christmas dinner

And now...back to 215 fuel vents....

(Damn that made me hongry)

Gran ever been to Nahunta Pig Farm? Yum.

Speaking of pig, wife bought 17lb "Fresh" Ham (uncooked/uncured). Gonna roast it for supper on Sunday. 17lbs and there's only two of us... (lots of leftovers).

Excellent Dan!

I've never tried one, but understand there are many steps involved. Hey...can you give us the address?

Merry Christmas :santa:
