Two things, does anyone know the torque setting for the prop nut?
Next, what is the best way to fill the tilt/trim motor with fluid?

I have never personally used a torque wrench on a prop nut. Just make sure it is tight then fold over the tabs on the lock washer. After running the boat a few times I like to put another turn on it once it is seated well. I also use a mercury torque flo hub.
To fill the tilt and trim unit I buy the quicksilver hydro fluid in the small squeeze bottle size (8oz if I remember right) simply squeeze into until it is full and replace the plastic nut. This is much easier than trying to pour it from a qt size container using a funnel.

Good advice Capt'n Matt.... The trim pump should be filled with the engine tilted all the way up till it stops at the trim limit. Wait a couple of minutes; unscrew the big plastic cap at the base of the hydraulic pump and fill to the bottom of the threads with any trim or power steering fluid. ( Walmart Pennzoil trim and tilt fluid is fine) I don't like ATF which can be used as a substitute because it is not true hydraulic fluid. Just tighten the prop nut as tight as you can to align the bend down lock tabs (3) with the hub recesses. Make sure you coat the propshaft with good marine grease to keep her from sticking over time. DO NOT USE NEVER SEIZE. It is aluminum based and actually will accelerate galvanic activity in salt water and stick the prop to the shaft over time.

Thanks for the help guys, Fitz, I got the stuff you told me about, penzoil marine trim fluid. Just wanted to make sure I was filling correctly.

i want to say the book says 55 lb.ft. or somewhere around there... which not one mechanic that comes to my shop does... they tighten till its tight, then give an extra 1/4 to 1/2 turn... also makes it easier if you ever have to change a prop on the water...
