Front Bunks
« on: September 11, 2011, 09:32:43 AM »
Before I dropped the 222 in for the first time I decided to change the structure of the trailer supports. Before it had 7 keel rollers and 4 back bunks. I have been looking at other trailers over the past few years and really like the addition of front swivel bunks to help with lining the hull on the trailer when loading and unloading. I found a trailer manufacturer in Reddick FL that had actually built the trailer for the 19-6. I called him and talked about options that he offered compared to the really thin and cheap looking swivel brackets that you find at most marine supply stores. I wanted something more substantial and better built. He does sell the parts he uses on his trailers to the public so I ordered four of the brackets and 4 10" rollers.
He sells the 12" brackets with swivel and all of the u-bolts and washers and locknuts (basically everything you need to attach them) for around $32.00 each. The 10" rollers with the shaft and pal nuts ran $15.00 each. These rollers are not the black rubber ones but they are the poly ones just not made by Stolz.
I thought this was really good deal especially for the brackets which up here anyway are hard to find.
If you are interested in adding these to your trailer I highly recommend you give B&S Trailer a call. Cliff the owner is a really nice guy and a pleasure to work with.
I have no affiliation with them other than being a satisfied customer!
Their number is 352-591-2161 ask for Cliff.

This what my install looks like.

Thanks Lewis.  Good looking brackets.  It's about time to replace some of my bunk brackets.   :thumright:

I'm looking to add the same type set to my trailer.
Do you have a pic of the trailer without the boat?

I do not have a pic of just the trailer yet. I will try to get one this weekend. Sorry the pics are a little dark, I'll try to get some better ones, those are off my phone.

Here are some more pics of the setup on the trailer.
These are the rear bunks, two on edge and two flat, both are 2X6 PT.

This is the setup for the new front ones. Wider towards the stern and narrower towards the bow. The front supports are about a foot apart making the bunks about 4 inches apart so the keel slides in every time. The rear supports are about 30 inches apart.
