Fish tail on motor
« on: December 27, 2014, 05:53:08 PM »
Hi all. Hope you had a great Christmas. I just replaced my old Yama 150 on my 87 Osprey 200. Boat is in the carport now being brought up on maintenance. Repaired some broken, rusty, stuff and a dozen other things. Made new rod holders from PVC added a console hatch, etc, etc. My old motor had one of those whale tails on it. I haven't run the newer engine on the water yet but am wondering if anyone runs one stock on a 200? I don't really want to put trim tabs on a 19.5 ft boat. Any advice or thoughts on this subject? I use the boat off the Ms. coast islands and bays &  rivers here. I keep it in a wet slip all spring summer & fall.

My advice would be to skip the tail and go with the trim tabs.  Good luck with your decision.

Fins and tails don't work on Aquasports if the engine is set at the correct height.  Do a search and you will find several threads on this.
