Front keel roller
« on: August 07, 2012, 04:45:14 PM »
I would like to see some pics of some different set ups for the FWD keel roller if possible.  The problem on mine is the bow is very heavy and the main bunks don't go far enough forward to take the load off, and that roller catches he!!.  I'm thinking V bracket, or something like that, the keel eats that roller up and then it starts scraping the keel... Suggestions?  Thanks

Here is a pic of my 230 on the trailer - you can see that it has a top roller above the winch, then a lower roller which the boat barely touches and the keel sits on a v support.  If I am using a steep ramp the aft of the boat start floating and the only contact with the trailer is the two rollers and the boat launches itself off the trailer and has pulled my wife off the dock
I need to replace the lower roller with something else.

Yes Bruce, inner bunks have been a thought, Rick, where your V Support is, is where my roller is, so that is a very heavy spot, maybe the V support?  Thanks for the pics

You will not regret front inner bunks.

That little fella there fixed the keel roller issues and made one man loading easy.

Hey Mark,

I replaced my front V bunk configuration with inside mounted long bunk runners. I still have the original aluminum cross member, fabbed pressure treated and carpeted V bunk, PVC guides and mounting hardware, with urethane roller and bracket from my 7000# GVWR Boatmaster Trailer if you're interested; its yours. I'll take some pictures if you're interested.
