Boatman's Sombrero "resort" and marina in Marathon- BUST!

Just got back from a few day stay at Boatman's Sombrero Resort in Marathon- What a disappointment! I was told it was remodeled and upgraded by the new owners when i was making my reservations. I think the only thing they have upgraded was the lobby. After checking we had to get a different room because our first room was disgusting. They did not even change the sheets on the bed from the previous renter (dont ask). In the new room, everything was either broken or about to break. the "marina" consists of a seawall along the canal at the back of one of the buildings. All of that was further compounded by charging my card the wrong ammount for the stay twice.
Overall I would strongly recommend  checking out any other place on marathon compared to this place.

New owners huh...We use to stay at the Sombrero all the time, never had any issues.  Sorry to hear that your experience sucked.  Did they still have the Pizza joint next to the pool?

Hawk's Cay hands down ask for Lori in reservation (my mom) It's pricey but you get what you paid for. And you are right the only remodeling they did was change the name and paint the lobby. The remolded the laobby before they sold it the last time lol.

I rented a tank from duck dive there,it is a nice place,and the lady told me they have Hero days in Sep Oct,if your a Vet $99 a night.

I always used to stay at Banana Bay but like you said you get what you pay for and man i was paying,i learned to live with less down there,heck if i'm on the boat all day cold beer,a nice bed and a shower and a nice pool i'm covered.

Heard that the new holiday Inn isn't bad they have a nice tiki bar/resturant outback as well. They are having a hero day tomorrow as well.
