Thanks for the ideas, very much appreciated.  Have I made a mistake on my years the 271 was built?  If in fact the boat turns out to be a Model 270, does anyone have or know where I can find the specs; LOA, Beam, Dry weight, max HP, Fuel Cap., etc.?

Thanks again,
Bob

I second the idea for a moving company.  I have one near me and they charge $10-$15 and that is for two weights.  (loaded & unloaded)  I plan on weighing my boat and trailer...  then take go to a nearby boat yard and have them lift the boat off my trailer with a forklift...  then weigh my empty trailer.  This will give me the exact weight of my boat.

This I believe is your model here.

Yes it says 281, which is your boat exactly. Aqua started the model out as a 271 and it "grew" into the 281 by simply changing the decal. Exact same boat. Go figure. Must have went to the L.O.A.

Anyway, you might want to PM the former owner of the boat pictured (Keith Kencht). He probably can give you some good info on these Ospreys because he has owned several.

Couldn't hurt.

PS.... Keith a great guy.

PM him.
That's the best way to reach him. I just met up with him in Tampa so he's still around.

Thanks agaian for the info.  I just found a listing on the 271 from Yachting.com making specific reference to the 271 Tm t-top as being 29' in length. A outboard yacht that features a 9'7" beam and weighs in at a net 4700 pounds.  Is it safe to infer net weight is dry weight?  I'm hoping the boat is not as heavy as some here have predicted, but a net 0f 4700# sounds light if net weight includes engines and fuel.  I will post some pice this evening of where we at with the "project" soon to be named the "War Wagon".  It is a fitting name after some of the discussions the wife and I have had about it.

Thanks
Bob

That has to be dry weight hull only, for comparison a 97 245 Osprey is listed as 4100 lb dry with a single 200,and you have alot more boat then that.

I agree, but I dont see it getting anywhere near 15k fully loaded.  I'm hoping i will be closer to 8-9k loaded.  I really would like to find a quality used tandem axle trailer for her.  I hope to have the transom buttoned up by the end of next weekend.

After re reading this post i think 15k is way off,i think your right with 8-9k,since there is some doubt and it's best to go bigger with a trailer i would say go for a 10-12k trailer which might mean tripple axle but you know you would be safe.

yep, your probably right with that call.  I just really don't want to drag that 3rd axle around all of the corners to and from our boat ramp.
